THE "AMBIDEX" IS HERE!

Student Training Centers, wouldn't you like to eliminate one of the transitions required to turn your students into skydivers? Would you like to pack your student freefall rigs without having to use a spring loaded main pilot chute?

The AMBIDEX  enables you to introduce your students directly to throwout deployment without first having to unlearn ripcord deployment!

When the AMBIDEX  is installed on a student rig, the main may be deployed from either side; in the normal manner by the student jumper, or by either the right or left side AFF instructor. For left side deployment, the instructor simply pulls the red handle which opens the BOC pouch, allowing the pilot chute to deploy.
Altico offers the AMBIDEX
mounted on a rectangular base panel which can be easily installed on the main container's bottom flap by simply stitching around the four sides.

The AMBIDEX  is in stock, available for immediate shipment.
AMBIDEX
, ready to install $60 (cheaper than a spring loaded pilot chute)

Introduction:

The AMBIDEX enables the leftside AFF jumpmaster to deploy the student's throwout pilot chute by simply pulling a red handle on the bottom left side of the container.  This opens the BOC pouch, allowing the pilot chute to deploy. There are only two components which comprise the AMBIDEX: a pilot chute pouch mounted on a base panel, and a handle with a cable which is used to close or open the pouch.
The AMBIDEX
is mounted on a base panel for easy installation by a rigger. Sewing one stitch row all around the rectangular base panel is all that is required to mount the AMBIDEX on the main bottom flap of an appropriately sized container. (The main container must be at least twelve inches wide.)

AMBIDEX  ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:

1) Close the top edge of the pilot chute pouch by lacing" the yellow cable of the handle alternately thru the locking loops on the upper locking strip and on the pouch itself (FIG. 1 & FIG. 2). At the right end of the locking strips there is a small opening in the tape into which the yellow cable is inserted. It then curves downward into this channel to stow the excess as shown in FIG. 3. Stow the handle in the velcro "sandwich".
2) Follow the instruction in the DOLPHIN OWNER'S MANUAL for packing the main canopy with a BOC pilot chute. When the packing procedure is complete, the pilot chute pouch should resemble the diagram in FIG. 4.

AMBIDEX  OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:

1) For normal deployment from the right side, the pilot chute may be pulled from the pouch and released into the airstream by either the jumper or a right-side jumpmaster.
2) If the left-side jumpmaster has decided to deploy the main canopy, the procedure is simply to grasp the red handle and vigorously pull it to open the pouch and allow the pilot chute to deploy.
