DOLPHIN "2000"TM Details

The DOLPHIN™ was introduced in August 1995 after three years of design and testing, with the goal of producing the industry's most affordable, yet state-of-the-art sport harness/container system. Without sacrificing strength, quality or dependability, the DOLPHIN™ was designed for ease and simplicity of production, with resulting savings passed on to the customer.

The container system may be ordered in 1,000-denier cordura or in parapack. Main risers are offered in Type 8 webbing with standard rings, Type 8 with mini-risers, and Type 17 one-inch "Super-mini" risers. The DOLPHIN™ riser covers have been reconfigured to protect the risers all the way over the shoulder (see below). Since April 1998, all orders have featured this new design which is called the DOLPHIN "2000"™ to differentiate it from the former design which featured shorter riser covers.

Although most of the DOLPHIN "2000"™ container system and its components are available only in solid black, custom colors are offered on selected panels (see below) and on the cutaway handle. The logo on the reserve pin cover is also available in 23 colors.

The DOLPHIN "2000"™ harness is designed with "wrap-around" structures, making it one of the strongest in the skydiving industry. Main lift webs are doubled Type 8 webbing, with Type 7 webbing used only for the lateral backstrap. Without increasing the bulk of the system, Altico has found a way to add padding to the legstraps and backpad, making the DOLPHIN "2000"™ one of the most comfortable rigs in today's market.

Custom embroidery is available on most parts of the container system (initials, monograms, emblems, etc.), without adding any more than one or two days to the production time of the order. Prices for custom embroidery are quoted on an individual basis.

At present the container sizes for the DOLPHIN "2000"™ are: MINI-D, D-1, D-2, D-3, D-4, D-5, D-6, and D-7. All container systems were sized with a CYPRES processing unit installed in the reserve container, and using canopies rigged with Spectra suspension line (Microline). A chart showing generally recommended container sizes and canopies is shown below.

Harness sizing is simplified for systems ordered as stock. Harnesses may be ordered in S, M, L, XL, or XXL (or sizes "in between"), and a chart is supplied below showing recommended harness sizes for height and weight. Recognizing that not all bodies are shaped the same, Altico will custom fit the harness at no extra charge if the customer's measurements (height, waist, thigh, and weight) are listed with the order. When taking the waist measurement, measure at belly-button height. For thigh, measure around one leg in a horizontal circle at the highest point possible.

Riggers will appreciate the simplicity of assembling and packing the DOLPHIN "2000"™ reserve. Its design provides for a spectacular launch of the reserve pilot chute and easy extraction of the deployment bag. The main container is also very easy to pack for the jumper (or professional packer). Its throwout pilot chute is stowed in an elastic pocket mounted either on the leg strap or on the bottom of the main container, whichever is preferred by the customer.
